Privacy Policy — Devil's Chariot

Effective September 3, 2026. Applies to Devil's Chariot for iOS, version 1.1.

Devil's Chariot collects nothing. It has no account system, no server, and no analytics. Your flight history stays on your device.

The rest of this policy explains what that means in detail.

What the app stores

When you import a Flighty CSV export, the app reads the file you picked and saves these fields to a database inside its own iOS container:

FieldExample
Date2026-09-14
Airline and flight numberUA 837
Departure and arrival airportsSFO → NRT
Scheduled and actual gate times2026-09-14T11:15:00
Aircraft typeBoeing 787-9
Cabin classBusiness
Departure and arrival terminalsI → 1

From the airport codes, the app calculates distance, city, country, region, and continent using dictionaries built into the app. That calculation runs on your device.

Columns the app does not use are discarded during import.

Two more kinds of record are yours rather than the export's. You type them into the app, and they are stored the same way, in the same database:

What you recordExample
Airline elite status, and the date each tier startedAmerican, AAdvantage Executive Platinum, from March 1, 2024
A correction to one flight's cabinThis seat was bought, not an upgrade

The app uses these to work out how often status put you in a premium cabin. That calculation runs on your device, against rules built into the app. No airline is contacted, and nothing is checked against an account.

When you pick a file, iOS places a copy of it in the app's own cache directory so the app can read it. That copy stays inside the app's private container on your device, and iOS clears it along with the app's other cached files. Deleting the app removes it.

Where that data goes

Nowhere. Version 1.1 makes no network connections of any kind.

The app contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no tracking technology. It does not read your contacts, calendar, photos, location, or any identifier belonging to you or your device.

Settings → Data Sources lists the open datasets the app is built on, and each entry opens a web page if you tap it. Tapping one hands the address to Safari, which then loads it under Apple's privacy terms. The app sends nothing of its own, and those sites receive no information about you from it.

The maps are drawn from geographic data bundled inside the app, which is why the world map still renders in airplane mode.

Files you choose

The app reads a file in two situations, both of which you start:

In both cases iOS grants access to that one file. The app cannot browse your files, and it reads nothing you have not handed it.

Deleting your data

Two ways, both immediate:

Because no copy exists anywhere else, either action is final. You have nothing to request from us, because we hold nothing.

Security

The database lives in the app's private container. iOS restricts that container to this app and encrypts it at rest whenever your device is locked with a passcode, Face ID, or

<!-- vale Google.WordListCase = NO -->

Touch ID.

<!-- vale Google.WordListCase = YES -->

If you back up your device to iCloud or a computer, the backup includes the app's data. Apple's own privacy policy governs those backups.

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, including children under 13. It contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, and no way to communicate with other people.

What Apple sees

Downloading the app is a transaction between you and Apple, and Apple's privacy policy covers it. If you have turned on Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share With App Developers, Apple may send us anonymous, aggregated crash reports. We never receive your flight data through that channel, and you can turn it off in iOS Settings at any time.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will appear here with a new effective date, and the App Store release notes will say what changed. Because the app collects no data, any future change that starts collecting some would ship as a new version you choose to install.
